Low and below, Google leads me to the solution below.

I love it and it works great. Have a go, I hope it helps.

In anticipation of a redesign for our messaging app I put together this prototype.

Simple email interface with some usual stuff missing as this is not a true email app but a secure messaging app in a closed system.

I was given a not so subtle hint that the new Google email theme was “sexy”. I used this as inspiration.

What is presented here is my first pass at the “inbox” screen. One idea I have had for a long time when asked to think about this project is a preview mode. Since this is a closed system I feel like we have more control over the data that is sent back and forth and feel like this could be a nice touch t the traditional inbox you and I have know forever.

There are a few bugs, mostly with the jQuery as I am learning as I go, but for a first pass at a prototype I feel I get the idea across pretty well.

Design refresh and a jump to a new platform

Virginia Heart and Vascular Institute (VHVI) was due for a redesign and they agreed when it was mentioned to them. They had a pretty firm idea of the design they wanted which made it a little easier as they played a larger role than most in the design of they’re site.

They are also a client that has launched on our new paltform. We are in the process of building out their site so I’ll post a link soon.

Also, this is my first project where I am injecting some HTML5 when/where appropiate. With Aaron Gustafson’s Adaptive Web Design as a guide I am starting to test as see how it will work on our new platform. As with my redesign of Boston Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Center once our NEW new platform launches we’ll be moving VHVI over.

Update

Site Has Launched!

Yeah! First site on our new platform has been pushed out.

Quite a bit has changed since the first spec. The secondary pages were brough straight over from their old site and modified just enought to fit in the new template. Unfortunitly this means almost all of the legacy markup couldn’t be fixed/updated. Such is life.

Client is really happy and we are testing and working out bugs of the new platform.

As new as it is, this is only phase one. This platform is a way point for the newer platform which will be launched in the coming weeks. Once it launches, this and a few other clients will be moved to that platform.

Thanks for looking.

———-//———-

Our client Boston Medical Center has been with is for about 6 years. We approached them about a month ago to see what they thought about a redesign. We wanted to make sure their site was one that kept up with recent design and technology trends and they agreed that a refresh was in order.

My goal was to try and squeeze the large amount of content they wanted to feature on their homepage into an easy to digest presentation. I had received orders from above not to redesign the secondary and tertiary pages but to come up with a design where those pages would fit.

The comps below are presented in the order of revisions by the client.

This project is a little different for me as I have been tapped for the design and not the build. No worries, I enjoy the variety and challenge.

I submitted the designs below for the first round and we are making revisions now.

December 2010 - Vacation at home and chocolate covered twinkies

I am on vacation and decided I needed to spend some time on the site and give it some special attention.

I wanted a way to share more information about a comp displayed on my work page without actually having the copy on the page.

Last week I found a tutorial on tooltips. Soh Tanaka has a write up entitled Simple Tooltip w/ jQuery & CSS. Find it heremmmmmmmmm, Sexier Tooltips.

Plus: It’s easy to customize and implement. Minus: TITLE and ALT tags kind of interfere with the effect. Look at the link to my workView Mike’s Work page for reference.

Must choose wisely.
