Along with the rebuild of our platform I was tasked with redesigning and rebuilding our content management tool which we lovingly refer to as the “Admin Tool”.
Our old Admin Tool was pretty sore on the eyes and at time could lead to confusion as to where to find what you needed. With many more options available in the new platform I had to make sure the tool was one we could easily navigate through and depend on.
The idea I came up with was to center everything around the client and no the task. Instead of going to the upload page for stylesheets, selecting a client from the drop down menu and updating the stylesheet there a user searches for the client with a search form or alpha listing and is then presented with options as they pertain to that particular client.
The shots below are of the tool in our development area and in all tests so far the feedback has been very positive.
Quick note: anytime I submit a project for review/evaluation internally and it doesn’t have a blue color scheme it gets shot down. Don’t ask why, just roll with it.
This is a view of the accounts registered in the system. There is a search feature along with an alpha sort. There wasn’t really anything like this in our old system. These alone are a huge improvement.
Once you click on an account name you are then presented with a screen that displays more info about the account. Whether it’s a parent or child, call to action links and gerneral information is shared with the user.

Editing the site information is done through a modal.
